International Men’s Day Celebration

Women Empowerment Committee of Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER) celebrated its first-ever International Men’s Day on November 19, 2024, marking a significant occasion to acknowledge the contributions and challenges faced by men in society. The event was organized with the goal of promoting gender equality, raising awareness about men’s health, and challenging stereotypes around masculinity.
The event was hosted by Ms. Parina Mathema from the Department of Pharmaceutics, ABIPER, who warmly welcomed all the Gent’s staff who were the guest for the event, faculty members and participants. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the Importance of creating a balanced conversation around gender, noting that the observance of International Men’s Day is a step toward recognizing the diverse roles men play in society and promoting mental health awareness.
The day’s program began with an inspiring speech by Dr. Shobha Rani, Director of ABIPER, who highlighted the significance of the event in raising awareness about men’s well-being and the importance of breaking stereotypes related to masculinity. The Director also spoke about the need to focus on men’s mental health, a topic often underrepresented in mainstream discussions.
The event also featured speeches by the Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Principal of ABIPER, who expressed strong support for the observance of International Men’s Day, highlighting that gender equality benefits everyone in society. The principal noted that by focusing on men’s well-being, the institute hoped to contribute to a more holistic approach to societal development.
Additionally, the Dr. Paul Richard, Head of the Department of Analysis at ABIPER shared his views on the importance of discussing men’s mental health, particularly in academic and professional environments. The HOD also spoke about how creating a safe space for men to express themselves is essential in reducing stigma and improving overall well-being.
A key feature of the event was a series of cultural activities as well as fun activities for the Gents staff. Students of ABIPER actively participated in various cultural activities, including dance, singing, instrumental and short skits which centered around themes of masculinity, mental health, and breaking gender stereotypes. The cultural performances, such as dance and music, added a creative touch to the event, fostering a sense of community and shared understanding.
The event concluded with a token of love which was presented by Dr. Shobha Rani, Director, ABIPER and cake cutting. Dr. Sowjanya Battu, HOD, Department of Pharmaceutics, ABIPER delivered a closing speech, reiterating the need for continued dialogue on issues affecting both men and women, and expressing hope that the event would encourage further discussions on gender equality in the future. This initiative is expected to become an annual tradition at ABIPER, contributing to the overall goal of fostering an environment of equality, respect, and understanding for all genders.
Seminar on “Research in Pharmacy”
Department of Pharmacology of Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), Yelahanka, Bangalore, organized a seminar on “ Research in Pharmacy” on 23rd November 2024 at the ABIPER Seminar Hall. This seminar aims to explore the latest trends and innovations in pharmacy research and foster knowledge and collaboration among our academic community.

63 National Pharmacy Week Celebrations- 2024
Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), Yelahanka, Bangalore celebrated 63 rd National Pharmacy week from 17 th Nov to 23rd Nov 2024 at its Seminar Hall. The theme for 63 rd National Pharmacy Week 2024 is “Think Health, Think Pharmacy.” This week-long celebration highlights the pivotal role of pharmacy in healthcare through a series of impactful activities. These include health awareness programs, aimed at promoting community well-being and conducting seminars to emphasize the importance of pharmacy. On the occasion of National Pharmacy Week, Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), Yelahanka, Bangalore organized seminar-curricular activities (essay writing and poster competition), and various awareness programs maintaining the health of families and surrounding community like rallies, visited 17 community pharmacies, 5 hospitals, 10 schools, and colleges and various co-curricular activities like essay writing, and poster making to create awareness on role of Pharmacist and his importance in public health services and motivate the students.
The chief guest Dr. Premnath Shenoy, President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Karnataka Branch, Bangalore, while delivering his thought-provoking speech on the history & scope of Pharmacist and their role in various sectors, stressed on government programs.
Graduation Day 2024
Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education & Research (ABIPER), Yelahanka, Bangalore, celebrated its 2024 GRADUATION DAY for outgoing B.Pharm, Pharm.D & M.Pharm students on 16th of November 2024. A total of 157 students received their graduation certificates including special awards for 15 students for academic excellence and 5 best outgoing student awards.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Malpani, Principal of Rajiv Memorial Education Society’s College of Pharmacy Gulbarga, Karnataka, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr.Ashok addressed the gathering and gave valuable advice to the graduates. He stressed many valuable topics like about importance of time, passion, and goals. He highlighted an abbreviation – ASK (Attitude, Skills & Knowledge) as the key to accomplishing our passions in life and ended his speech with the statement, “Outcome of education should be a character/behavior and not just a degree” by dotting a few incidences of his life.
Dr. G K Prakash, Nephrologist, Manipal Hospitals, Old Airport Road, Bangalore was the Guest of Honor for the Graduation Ceremony and conferred degrees to graduating students along with Chief Guest, and Vice Chairman of ABIPER. He addressed graduating students on the topic “Students to an Employee – Early days of Transition” and shared very insightful knowledge with the students who are now going to join the scientific and corporate world. Leaving behind their comfort zone, going to new places & meeting people, the significance of etiquette, changes in food and sleep, filling the knowledge gap, corporate systems, continuous education, and jobs in the Pharmacy profession were some of the highlights of his speech.
Dr. Priya Vishwanath, Vice Chairman, Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Principal, and Dr. Shobha Rani RH, Director, released the college magazine and newsletter on this grand occasion.
The program also included taking the ‘Pharmacist Oath’ by the graduating students, talks by graduating students and their parents, and ending with the National Anthem.
Seminar on “World Diabetes Day”
Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), in collaboration with the NSS unit and the Department of Pharmacy Practice, successfully organized a seminar on World Diabetes Day on November 14th, 2024. The event was held under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Bridging Gaps” to raise awareness about diabetes and the importance of equitable access to healthcare.
The program featured an enlightening session by Dr. Madhuvan HS, MBBS, MD, and Head of General Medicine at Akash Super Speciality Hospital. Dr. Madhuvan provided valuable insights into diabetes management, prevention strategies, and advancements in treatment. Additionally, an Awareness Session on Symptoms and Complications of Diabetes was conducted to educate participants on recognizing early warning signs and understanding the risks of uncontrolled diabetes.
The seminar served as a platform to inform and empower participants about tackling the challenges associated with diabetes, fostering discussions on reducing healthcare disparities. The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and nonteaching staff, making it a meaningful contribution to spreading awareness about diabetes.

Congratulation to Mr. Giridhar Gowda
Congratulations to our sixth-semester student, Mr. Giridhar Gowda, on securing first place in the 100-meter hurdles and second place in the 800-meter men’s run at the 22nd RGUHS Annual Intercollegiate Athletic Meet.
His exceptional performance on the track is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and athleticism.Giridhar’s victory is not just a personal achievement, but also an inspiration to all athletes who strive for excellence. The precision, agility, and focus required for the 110 m hurdles event make it one of the most challenging disciplines in athletics. Giridhar’s triumph clearly reflects his discipline and relentless training, and he has certainly set a high standard for others to follow.
We are incredibly proud of his accomplishment and wish him continued success in all future athletic endeavours.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Interzone Zone Men Kabaddi Tournament was hosted by the Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education & Research (ABIPER) from 9 th to 10th October 2024 at ABIPER.
In a thrilling final match, Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), Yelahanka, Bangalore, emerged the winner of the prestigious RGUHS, Interzone Zone Men Kabaddi Tournament.
