The Indian Pharmaceutical Congress IPC is a National Annual event of Pharmacists from all walks of pharmacy profession .The Theme Role of Indian pharma:For Global Well being .The 73 rd IPC 2024 ,Hyderabad invites leaders from Academia ,Pharma Industry, Research and Hospital and community Pharmacy.The Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and research actively participated 60 students from B Pharm,Pharm D and M Pharm .Two Professors and our Director involved in poster and Oral evaluation duties .We thank our Redpected Chairman and beloved Principal for constant support and encouragement .

 Objectives: To spread awareness about the importance of yoga amongst faculty and students

International Day of Yoga, celebrated annually on June 21st, highlights the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of practicing yoga. It was first proposed by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 and has since been globally recognized. The day aims to raise awareness about the many health benefits of yoga and promote its widespread practice as a means of achieving overall well-being.

The resource person highlighted about importance of yoga in our life. Yoga holds significant importance due to its comprehensive benefits for physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Physical Health – Yoga postures (asanas) improve flexibility, strength, and balance. They promote better posture and alignment, enhancing overall physical fitness and reducing the risk of injuries.

Mental Well-Being – Practicing yoga helps reduce stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and mindfulness. Techniques like deep breathing (pranayama) and meditation calm the mind, improve focus, and enhance mental clarity.

Emotional Balance – Yoga encourages self-awareness and introspection, fostering emotional stability and resilience. It can help manage mood swings, depression, and other emotional challenges.

Spiritual Growth – For many, yoga is a spiritual practice that deepens their connection to themselves and the world around them. It can promote a sense of inner peace, contentment, and spiritual fulfillment.

Holistic Healing – Yoga is often used as a complementary therapy for various medical conditions such as hypertension, chronic pain, insomnia, and cardiovascular disease. It complements medical treatments by addressing both physical and psychological aspects of health.

Lifestyle Benefits: Regular yoga practice encourages healthier lifestyle choices, including a better diet, improved sleep patterns, and increased physical activity.

Community and Social Connection -Yoga classes provide opportunities for social interaction and community support, contributing to overall well-being.

Overall, yoga is valued not only for its physical benefits but also for its profound impact on mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of life, promoting a balanced and harmonious existence.

The resource person highlighted the difference between yoga and yogasan. She talked about different aspects of Yoga. She emphasized breathing exercises and meditation.The workshop started with a warm-up exercise. Dr. Ekta Singh led the session smoothly with her experience and expertise in conducting yoga. As she was conducting for faculty and students, she mainly focussed on yoga for beginners. Her guided meditation was a wonderful experience for all the participants. The attendees were relaxed, calm, and peaceful after the yoga session.

Department of Pharmacy Practice, ABIPER conducted “Maternal Mental Health Awareness Program” on 21st May 2024 at General Hospital, Yelahanka in association with Rotary Bangalore Northwest focusing on Postpartum Depression.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Ganesh, Administrative Medical officer and fellow doctors of General Hospital, Yelahanka, Mrs. Parvathi Anand, President Rotary Bangalore North west and Mrs. Lakshmi Naveen, President, Rotary Bangalore Kalyan and Dr .ShobhaRani R H, Professor and Director, ABIPER and staff coordinators, Dr. Sangeetha S and Dr. Neena Priyamalar E M.

The program had a list of events that shine light on the importance of maternal mental health and specifically on postpartum depression. There was an awareness talk by Dr. ShobhaRani R H in Kannada to the community followed by an eye-opening skit performance by Pharm. D students. Simultaneously screening and education regarding postpartum depression care was done among the new mothers in the OBG ward. Awareness events were also carried out in the inpatient OBG ward to the new mothers and their families were educated by Dr. Sangeetha S and Dr. Neena Priyamalar E M with the help of counseling aids.

Aditya Milan: Alumni Meet 2024 was held on 18th May 2024 at the Auditorium. ABIPER was a resounding success, bringing together past graduates and current students in a vibrant celebration of our institution’s enduring community. The event marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Alumni Mentoring Program, a new initiative aimed at fostering stronger connections between alumni and current students.

Welcome Address: The event commenced with a warm welcome address by our esteemed Director, Dr. Shobha Rani, and Principal, Dr. Amit Kumar Das. They expressed their delight at seeing so many familiar faces and emphasized the importance of alumni in the ongoing development and success of the institution. Their speech highlighted the achievements of the alumni and the critical role they play in mentoring and guiding the new generation of students.

Inauguration of the Alumni Mentoring Program. The highlight of the evening was the formal inauguration of the Alumni Mentoring Program. Principal Dr. Amit Kumar Das and Director Dr. Shobha Rani jointly unveiled the program, symbolizing a new chapter of collaboration and support within our academic community. In her speech, Director Dr. Shobha Rani provided a comprehensive overview of the Alumni Mentoring Program.

She outlined its objectives, which include:

Building Stronger Connections: Facilitating meaningful relationships between alumni and students.

Professional Guidance: Providing students with insights and advice from experienced professionals.

Career Development: Assisting students in making informed career choices and enhancing their professional skills.

Networking Opportunities: Creating platforms for students to network with alumni across various industries and overseas.

Principal Dr. Amit Kumar Das emphasized the program’s potential to significantly impact students’ career trajectories by leveraging the rich experiences and networks of our alumni. She encouraged alumni to actively participate and share their knowledge and expertise, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Cultural Program: Following the inauguration, the audience was treated to a vibrant cultural program. The performances included:

Dance: A captivating dance performance showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our region was performed.

Musical Performances: Melodious renditions by the college choir and individual performers, featuring both classical and contemporary pieces.

The cultural program was a highlight of the evening, providing entertainment and a platform for students to showcase their talents. It also served as a reminder of the importance of cultural activities in holistic education.

Alumni Reflections:

Following the inauguration, several alumni shared their personal experiences and success stories. They recounted how their education at ABIPER laid the foundation for their careers and expressed their enthusiasm for giving back to the community through the mentoring program.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks acknowledging the efforts of all participants, organizers, and attendees in making the event a success. The Alumni Meet and Cultural Program ended with a networking lunch, allowing for further interaction and connection-building among the attendees.

Outcome :

The event was stimulating enjoyable and simultaneously profitable as all members shared their views and a good number of new ideas, information, and insights came up. The association is hopeful to run and successfully structure and Alumni. The alumni Association sincerely expressed its gratitude to the honorable Chairman, Dr. B A Vishwanath for his guidance and support to make this event a grand success.

Department of Pharmacology, Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education &Research (ABIPER)   organized an interactive Guest Lecture on the topic “Cell Lines in Advanced Biomedical Research” on 23rd March 2024 at  ABIPER Seminar Hall. The main objective was to provide an opportunity for students and researchers to conduct basic research, effectively investigate diseases, and develop new drugs or vaccines. Resource Person, Dr.Rajendra Sandur, started the session with basic cell culture techniques, including cell harvesting, subculturing, seeding, cryopreservation, transfections, cytotoxicity assays, and immunofluorescence. The session was very interactive, and students participated enthusiastically. The session was concluded by a Question-and-Answer round in which students interacted with Dr. Rajendra followed by a vote of thanks by Dr.Amit Kumar Das, Principal, ABIPER. As per the feedback received from the participants, it was an excellent learning experience, and the lecture helped them understand the importance of determination in career enhancement.
