The Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), in association with the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) – Bengaluru (Urban) Local Branch, successfully organized an Awareness Programme on Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). This initiative aimed to educate students and healthcare professionals on the significance of affordable generic medicines and their role in improving healthcare accessibility in India.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Srinivasa S, MBBS, MD (Paediatrics), FIAP, Chief Guest, who is a distinguished academician and clinician with over 33 years of experience. He currently serves as the Professor and HOD of Paediatrics at Akash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center, Bengaluru Rural. Dr. Srinivasa delivered an enlightening address, emphasizing the critical need for accessible and cost-effective medications in pediatric care and the broader healthcare system.

The Resource Person for the session, Mr. Anupam Pathak, Nodal Marketing Officer, PMBI (South Karnataka), provided a comprehensive overview of PMBJP, explaining its objectives, implementation strategies, and impact on public health. His presentation highlighted the role of Janaushadhi Kendras in ensuring the availability of high-quality, affordable generic medicines and the ongoing efforts to expand their reach.

Additionally, Mr. Ashok, Association President, and Mr. Chandrashekar, Joint Secretary of  Kendra owner’s association, enriched the discussion by sharing real-life scenarios showcasing how Janaushadhi Kendras have positively impacted patients, especially those in economically weaker sections. Their insights helped attendees understand the ground-level challenges and the transformative potential of this initiative.

The event was presided over by Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Principal, ABIPER, and Dr. Shobha Rani R H, Director, ABIPER, whose leadership played a pivotal role in organizing this meaningful session. Their continuous encouragement and support have been instrumental in fostering awareness about public healthcare initiatives.

Dr.B.A. Vishwanath, Chairman, Aditya Group of Institutions, Vice Chairman, Dr. Priya Vishwanath, Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Principal along with Director Dr. Shobha Rani hearty welcomed the first-year students. The program concluded with a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, followed by cultural activities by students.

The purpose of Fresher’s Party is to welcome new students in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage their creative impulses to boost their confidence.

In her address, she highlighted the vision and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, particularly his emphasis on education, self-discipline, and character building among youth. She urged students to embrace innovation, resilience, and continuous learning to contribute meaningfully to society. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of resilience, urging students to stay determined and persevere through difficulties. She cited examples from Swami Vivekananda’s life, illustrating how he overcame obstacles with unwavering faith and dedication.
