Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a chemistry based discipline, also involving aspects of Pharmaceutical and biological sciences. It is mainly concerned with the invention, discovery, design, identification and preparation of biologically active compounds, the study of their metabolism, the interpretation of their mode of action at the molecular level. It also includes the study of existing drugs, their biological properties and their quantitative structure activity relationships (QSAR). Our departmental staff contributes to teaching in medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry and drug design for the students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Please take time to peruse our website and don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
Research Activities :
Exploring new drug molecules from natural sources.
Development of analytical techniques for new drugs in dosage forms.
Isolation and purification of drugs from natural origin.
Cytotoxic activity of some selected medicinal plants.
Synthetic Drugs- Discovery of new chemical entities.
