Understanding the Mind’ s Decline” was conducted by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Bangalore (Urban) Local Branch in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy Practice and NSS Unit of Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research. The event aimed to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias among students and faculty members.Dr. Suresh V C served as the resource person and delivered an insightful session that addressed the fundamental differences between the brain and the mind, setting the foundation for a deeper understanding of cognitive disorders. He clarified that dementia is not a natural part of healthy aging and discussed its increasing prevalence, particularly in aging populations. The session highlighted reversible causes of dementia, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and intervention. Dr. Suresh also elaborated on both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment strategies, focusing on the multidimensional approach required for effective dementia care. A significant portion of the talk was dedicated to the challenges faced by caregivers, acknowledging the emotional and physical burden associated with long-term care. The seminar concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which participants had the opportunity to interact directly with the speaker and clarify their doubts. The event was well-received by attendees and contributed to enhancing awareness and understanding of dementia, reinforcing the importance of timely intervention, caregiver support, and interdisciplinary management.
