Overview of Day 1-28th June 2026 (Sunday)
As part of the National Immunization Day (NID) – Pulse Polio Programme, the Department of Pharmacy Practice in collaboration with the NSS Unit of ABIPER actively participated in the Government of India’s nationwide initiative conducted from 28th June to 1st July 2026 at Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC), Thindlu, Bangalore.
The programme aimed to eradicate poliomyelitis by ensuring that every child below five years of age received the oral polio vaccine. The event promoted community awareness, preventive healthcare, and student participation in public health services while strengthening India’s commitment towards a Polio-Free Nation.
Objectives of the Programme
• To support the Government of India’s National Immunization Day (NID) campaign.
• To ensure maximum immunization coverage among children below five years of age.
• To create awareness regarding the importance of routine immunization.
• To provide Pharm.D students with practical exposure to National public health programmes.
• To encourage teamwork, leadership, communication, and community engagement among students.
• To contribute towards the goal of a completely Polio-Free India.

Programme Activities
The Department of Pharmacy Practice -PharmD Students actively participated in various activities, including:

✅ Registration and Documentation of Beneficiaries
✅ Public Awareness and Health Education
✅ Booth Management and Coordination
✅ Crowd Management
✅ Home Visits and Follow-up Mobilization
✅ Assisting Healthcare Professionals during Immunization
Day 1- Participation and Highlights

• Total Vaccination Booths Covered: 33
• Total Children Vaccinated: 8,313
• Students actively participated in beneficiary registration, vaccination support, documentation, awareness generation, crowd management, and reporting.
• The programme provided valuable exposure to real-time public health service delivery, vaccination logistics, patient interaction, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Educational Outcomes:
The programme enabled Pharm.D students to gain practical experience in:

Day 1 – Impact and Outcomes
• Successfully supported the National Pulse Polio Campaign.
• 8,313 children received Oral Polio Vaccine through 33 immunization booths.
• Strengthened awareness regarding immunization and disease prevention among the community.
• Enhanced practical knowledge and confidence of Pharm.D students in public health activities.
• Reinforced ABIPER’s commitment towards community service and national healthcare initiatives.
Future Plans:
Following the successful completion of the National Immunization Day programme, the Department of Pharmacy Practice plans to:
• Continue active participation in National Health Programmes.
• Organize awareness campaigns on immunization and vaccine-preventable diseases.
• Conduct regular community outreach programmes in collaboration with government healthcare institutions.
• Expand student involvement in public health surveillance, disease prevention, and health promotion activities.
