Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Bangalore (Urban) Local Branch, organized a seminar entitled “Integrated Drug Development and Regulatory Framework in the Pharmaceutical Industry.” The session was held at the ABIPER Seminar Hall at 11:00 AM, aimed at providing PharmD and M.Pharm students with a professional perspective on industrial drug cycles.
The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Venkatesha, Director of ABIPER. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between academic curricula and industrial requirements, welcoming the guest speaker and the participating students.
The seminar was facilitated by Dr. Suresh Venkataram, a highly regarded Pharmaceutical Consultant. Dr. Venkataram brought extensive industry experience, offering technical insights into the integration of scientific research with global regulatory standards. Dr. Venkataram initiated the discussion by outlining the strategic importance of India in the global market.

• Market Growth: The Indian market was valued at approximately ₹4.7 lakh crore in 2025 and is projected to expand to ₹10 lakh crore by 2030.
• Global Supply: India currently services more than 200 countries, maintaining its status as a leader in generic drug manufacturing.

The speaker also provided a comprehensive breakdown of the drug development lifecycle, emphasizing the progression from molecular identification to clinical validation:
• Discovery Phase: Target discovery, hit generation, lead identification, and lead optimization.

• Preclinical Evaluation: Laboratory and animal testing to assess fundamental safety and biological activity.
• Clinical Trial Framework:

Phase I:Safety assessment in healthy volunteers.
Phase II: Efficacy assessment and dose optimization in patients.
Phase III: Large-scale trials to confirm effectiveness and monitor adverse reactions.

Detailed attention was given to the filing of Investigational New Drug (IND) and New Drug Application (NDA) protocols. Dr. Venkataram also addressed the high-stakes nature of the industry, noting that the average R&D cost exceeds $1.5 billion per drug with a development timeline of 8–10 years. Furthermore, the seminar covered critical formulation parameters, including:

• Physicochemical considerations: Salt selection, polymorphism, and nucleation.
• Manufacturing properties: Powder flow and drug acceptance criteria.
• Dosage selection: Tablets, capsules, ointments, and transdermal systems.

The event concluded with a high-engagement Q&A session. Dr. Venkatesha, Director of ABIPER, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guest speaker for his time and to the IPA Bangalore (Urban) Local Branch for their collaboration in making the event a success. The seminar successfully enhanced the participants’ understanding of the complex intersection between scientific research and market approval.

Concept to Commercialization is a knowledge-driven session organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER). This program focuses on transforming innovative ideas into successful marketing solutions, guiding students and aspiring entrepreneurs through the journey from concept development to real-world commercialization. The session will be held on 28th February 2026 at 11:00 AM onwards. The expert speaker, Dr. Mahesh Matada, Technical Manager – e-Mobility & Industrial Products | LED Lighting Control, will share valuable insights on innovation strategies, product development, and market implementation. The event aims to inspire participants to convert creative ideas into impactful and commercially viable innovations.

Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER) organized a comprehensive one-day seminar titled “Publishing Excellence: Research Strategy, AI Tools, Indexed Publications and Ethics” on 18th February 2026. The programme featured a panel of esteemed experts, with Dr. G. Jagadeesh, Retired Senior Expert Pharmacologist, US FDA, USA, present offline. Dr. Balakumar Pitchai and Dr. Subhada Nagarkar joined the sessions virtually during their respective time slots. The programme commenced with a formal welcome by Dr. Ruhana, Department of Pharmacy Practice. Dr. Venkatesh Venkatasubbaiah welcomed the Distinguished speaker, Dr. G. Jagadeesh, with a sapling.

Introduction of the Guest

Dr. Venkatesh Venkatasubbaiah formally introduced Dr. G. Jagadeesh, highlighting his distinguished professional journey and exemplary leadership in the global pharmaceutical sector. He described Dr. Jagadeesh as a mentor of remarkable clinical and regulatory insight, whose achievements are matched by his grounded personality and commitment to excellence. Dr. Venkatesh outlined Dr. Jagadeesh’s progression as a senior expert at the US FDA, emphasizing his extensive experience in research methodology, regulatory strategy, and the drug approval process. Key Highlights of the Seminar Dr. G. Jagadeesh, presenting in person, shared his extensive expertise on the essential building blocks of scientific inquiry, emphasizing that a high-impact publication begins long before the writing stage with a meticulously structured protocol. He detailed the logical progression from identifying a research gap to formulating a robust hypothesis, while focusing on defining clear, measurable objectives and understanding the clinical and scientific significance of the work. Drawing from his prestigious tenure at the US FDA, Dr. Jagadeesh explained how rigorous methodology at the academic level translates into global regulatory acceptance and drug approval standards.

Bridging the gap between traditional research and modern technology, Dr. Balakumar Pitchai joined the seminar virtually to demonstrate how to navigate high-impact databases such as PubMed and Scopus using advanced search strings. A major highlight of his session was the introduction of AI-based tools like Consensus AI and Scispace to streamline the literature review process, allowing researchers to synthesize vast amounts of data efficiently. He further provided a masterclass on manuscript anatomy, sharing critical strategies on title selection, abstract drafting, and adhering to journal-specific guidelines to ensure manuscripts pass the initial editorial screening and avoid desk rejection.

Following the mid-day break, Dr. G. Jagadeesh returned to focus on the post-research phase of getting work recognized globally. He advised the faculty and students on how to choose indexed journals that align with their research scope while avoiding the pitfalls of predatory publishing. He provided an insider’s view of the peer-review process, teaching participants how to address reviewer comments with professionalism and scientific rigor.

The seminar concluded with a vital session delivered virtually by Dr. Subhada Nagarkar, which served as a reminder of the moral obligations of a scientist. She provided a comprehensive overview of research misconduct, focusing on the three pillars of dishonesty: Plagiarism, Fabrication, and Falsification. Dr. Nagarkar clarified the standards for authorship assignment, warning against gift authorship and emphasizing the importance of declaring conflicts of interest to maintain transparency. The session closed with a look at the long-term damage that ethical lapses can cause to an individual’s academic credibility and the institution’s reputation, reaffirming the necessity of scientific integrity.

The seminar maintained a highly engaging atmosphere through dedicated Q&A sessions held immediately following each expert’s individual presentation. The hybrid nature of the event facilitated seamless interactions, whether the speaker was present on the dais or joined virtually.

Dr. G. Jagadeesh, responding in person, provided deep insights into the expectations of global editorial boards and regulatory standards. Dr. Balakumar Pitchai and Dr. Subhada Nagarkar, joining virtually, addressed queries regarding the technical use of AI tools and the nuances of maintaining transparency and integrity throughout the submission workflow.

As a token of appreciation, Dr. G. Jagadeesh was felicitated with a memento by Dr. Venkatesh Venkatasubbaiah. The session concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, management, faculty, organizing committee, and students for making the seminar a grand success.

Following the seminar, an exclusive faculty interaction session was convened in the Board Room, providing a platform for the teaching staff to engage in a high-level dialogue with all three distinguished speakers. This session transitioned from student-centric guidance to institutional strategic planning, with the experts sharing profound insights on elevating the research profile of the college.

EVENT PHOTOSESSION

Our college students actively participated in the National Youth Day celebration held on 12 January 2026 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru – 560003, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

The programme featured an inspiring discussion on the theme “Beyond Coding: How AI is Redefining Creativity, Careers, and Leadership.” Eminent speakers shared valuable insights on leadership, innovation, and the evolving role of youth in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

The event motivated students to embrace creativity, ethical leadership, and holistic development, aligning with the ideals and vision of Swami Vivekananda.

National Youth Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm and active participation of 100 students in association with NSS unit of ABIPER. The programme featured an inspiring Talkathon by Mr. Satyam Vishwakarma, Ms. Neetu Devi, Mr. G. Karthik, and Mr. Jashwanth, who shared valuable insights on leadership, discipline, and personal development.

The event also included a Leadership Pledge and a motivational address by Mr. Manju C, encouraging students to stay confident, responsible, and goal-oriented. The celebration concluded with the National Anthem, leaving students inspired by the message: “Believe in yourself, respect time, and never give up.”
