DAY 1

Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), in association with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka State Pharmacy Council (KSPC), and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), organized the first day of the Two-Day National Conference on “STEERING PHARMACY EDUCATION AND AI FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH AND INNOVATION” on 10th July 2026 at the ABIPER Auditorium. The conference brought together academicians, researchers, industry experts, faculty members, and students to discuss recent developments in pharmaceutical research and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in drug discovery.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr. B.A. Vishwanath, Founder Chairman, Aditya Group of Institutions; Chief Guest Mr. Anjan Roy; Dr. Priya Vishwanath; Mr. Aditya; Dr. Sivananda B.G, CEO, Aditya Group of Institutions; Dr. Sowjanya Battu, Vice-Principal, ABIPER; Dr. Venkatesha V.A., Director, ABIPER; and distinguished dignitaries Dr. M.D. Karvekar, Dr. Pulok K. Mukherjee, and Dr. Saleemulla Khan. The conference was formally inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Sowjanya Battu, Vice-Principal and Conference Convener, spoke about the need to integrate emerging technologies with pharmaceutical education and research. She emphasized that such academic programmes provide an opportunity for students and researchers to interact with experts from academia and industry.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Anjan Roy, Chairman, Flow Chemicals, Bengaluru, spoke about the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence in pharmaceutical research and healthcare. He explained that AI is transforming the way research is carried out by improving efficiency and supporting decision-making. At the same time, he reminded the participants that scientific knowledge, ethical values, and critical thinking will always remain essential for successful drug discovery and development.

The scientific sessions began with a lecture by Dr. Purushottam M. Dewang, who discussed the application of Artificial Intelligence in drug discovery. He explained how AI supports target identification, protein structure prediction, and virtual screening, while emphasizing that it serves as a tool to assist researchers rather than replace human expertise.

The next session was delivered by Dr. Trinadha Rao Chitturi on “Small Molecule Campaigns and Optimization Strategies in Approved Drugs for Oncology and CNS Indications.” He explained the importance of medicinal chemistry, molecular optimization, and the process of improving drug candidates to achieve better therapeutic outcomes.

The third technical session was delivered by Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee on “Natural Product Drug-like Molecules: Their Potential and Challenges for Development.” He highlighted the scientific importance of medicinal plants and emphasized the need for quality evaluation, standardization, and evidence-based validation in natural product research.

The post-lunch session featured Dr. Mahesh Pavar, who delivered a lecture on “Peptides as Therapeutic Molecules: Past, Present and Future Development Methodologies.” He discussed recent developments in peptide therapeutics and their expanding role in the treatment of various diseases.

One of the major attractions of the programme was the Panel Discussion on “AI in Drug Discovery,” moderated by Dr. Venkatesha V.A. The panel members, Dr. Trinadha Rao Chitturi, Dr. Sreedhar Narayan, Dr. Purushottam M. Dewang, and Dr. Narasimha Murthy, shared their views on the use of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Large Language Models in pharmaceutical research. The discussion focused on the opportunities, limitations, and future scope of AI in drug discovery. Students actively participated in the discussion by raising questions on research, higher education, and career opportunities in AI-enabled pharmaceutical sciences.

The final technical session was delivered by Dr. Ramanath Hegde, Senior Principal Scientist, Novartis, Hyderabad, on “Translationally Relevant In-vitro Assay Tools for Oncology and CNS Drug Discovery Programmes.” He explained the importance of reliable in-vitro models in preclinical research and discussed current approaches used to improve the success of drug development programmes.

The technical sessions were chaired by Dr. Sujith Kempa, Dr. Saleemulla Khan, and Dr. J.Anbu, while Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur, Dr. K. Mruthunjaya, Dr. Ram Gopal Dhanwad, and Dr. Shaista Ahmed served as Co-chairpersons. Each session concluded with an interactive discussion, followed by the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the speakers, chairpersons, and co-chairpersons.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sowjanya Battu, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, speakers, delegates, faculty members, students, and the organizing committee for their valuable support and participation. The first day of the conference concluded with a group photograph, marking the successful completion of the day’s scientific proceedings.

Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), organized a 10-day International Yoga Day Celebration from 12th June to 21^st June 2026 to promote health, wellness, and mindfulness among students, faculty, and staff. The program included daily yoga sessions conducted by trained instructors, focusing on physical fitness and mental well-being. Participants practiced various Asanas, including Hasta Uttanasana, Padahastasana, Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Ardha Kati Chakrasana, Padmasana, Vajrasana, Naukasana, and Bhujangasana, which helped improve flexibility, balance, posture, and strength. The sessions also included Pranayama techniques such as Brahmari, Nadi Shodhana, Surya Anuloma Viloma, and Chandra Anuloma Viloma, enhancing concentration, respiratory health, and stress management.

The program concluded on 21^st June 2026 with a special International Yoga Day session at the Indoor Auditorium, AGI. The event received enthusiastic participation and successfully highlighted the importance of yoga in achieving holistic health and a balanced lifestyle.

Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), Yelahanka, proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of its students who secured 3rd Place at the National Finals of the ICTD Quiz 2026 for Health Sciences UG Students conducted by the Indian Society for Clinical Research (ISCR) in association with the Academic Consortium for Clinical Research in India (ACCRI).

The winning team comprising Mr. Vamshi Krishna B.S., Mr. Mahesh Metri, and Mr. Danush M. from the Department of Pharmacy Practice demonstrated exceptional knowledge and analytical skills in the field of Clinical Research. Competing against participants from institutions across the country, the team successfully progressed through the Preliminary, Semi-Final, and Final rounds to secure an impressive 3rd Place at the national level.

This remarkable accomplishment reflects the institute’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and quality education in pharmaceutical sciences. The achievement also highlights the dedication of the students and the continuous guidance and encouragement provided by the faculty members.

The management, faculty, staff, and students of Aditya Group of Institutions extend their heartfelt congratulations to the achievers for bringing laurels to the institution and making the entire Aditya family proud.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of ABIPER, Bangalore, organized an activity on “STARTUP CASE STUDIES PRESENTATION” on the occasion of National Startup Day on 08 June 2026 at 2:00 PM in the ABIPER Seminar Hall. The competition was based on to present the case studies on the ongoing startups and its culture.

Key Event Proceedings

• Inaugural Address: The Master of Ceremonies, Mrs. Priya Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, opened the session by presenting formal governance respects to the Chairman Dr. BA Vishwanath, Director Dr. Venkatesh, and Vice-Principal Dr. Sowjanya Battu. She opened the competition with a brief on startup and its culture in India.
• Participants: Five students have participated in the Startup Case Studies Presentation Competition. All of them gave the detailed presentation on different Pharma startup companies and their growing culture in market giving benefits to the public.

Evaluation Session

The evaluation panel includes Dr. Anand Teerth Deshpande, Professor & Head of Dept. of Pharmacognosy, Mrs. Deepthi Swapna Professor & Head of Dept. of Industrial Pharmacy, Mrs. Bharathi K, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, and Dr. Arnika Das, Associate Professor & Head of Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The evaluators have asked multiple questions from all the participants and the participants have confidently answered all the queries. Evaluators also gave the advice and uplifted participants by sharing their knowledge and experience.

Winners

Harsha Shivappa received 1^st position, Lokesh L received 2^nd position and Vinayaka T Muganavar received 3^rd position.

Conclusion

The Startup Case Study Competition provided an excellent platform for students to explore innovative business ideas, enhance their analytical and problem-solving skills, and understand the entrepreneurial journey of successful startups. The enthusiasm, creativity, and critical thinking demonstrated by all participants truly reflected the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. We hope that this experience inspires students to think beyond conventional boundaries and contribute meaningfully to the startup ecosystem.

Mrs. Priya Kumar, coordinator of the event extended heartfelt gratitude to Vice-principal, IIC committee, evaluators and the students who participated and made the event successful. She sincerely thank the judges for their valuable time, expertise, and fair evaluation of the presentations. Lastly, IIC committee congratulated all the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and commend their innovative ideas and presentations and making the event a grand success.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of ABIPER, Bangalore, organized a workshop on Properties/process design & development organized by institutional innovation council (IIC) on 3rd June 2026 at 11:30 AM in the ABIPER Seminar Hall. The event focused on product development lifecycles, advanced process engineering, and modern smart systems.

Key Event Proceedings

• Inaugural Address: The Master of Ceremonies, Ms. Rupchi Sangam (Department of Chemistry), commenced the session by thanking the Honourable Chairman Sir, Director Sir, and Vice-Principal Sowjanya Ma’am. She then introduced the guest speaker and handed over the session control.
• Expert Speaker: Dr. Naveen Kumar C, Professor and HOD of Computer Science and Engineering at Aditya College of Engineering and Technology. He is an expert in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science, with a strong focus on cultivating student innovation and academic excellence.
• Leadership Team: The seminar was organized under the guidance of Dr. B. A. Vishwanath (Chairman, ABIPER), Dr. Sowjanya Battu (Convenor, IIC), and Mrs. Pinki Verma and Archana P.G. (Co-ordinator, IIC).

Key Technical Highlights

The presentation provided a structured engineering roadmap for taking conceptual designs into scalable, market-ready products:

1. Product Development Foundations: Evaluation of key properties including physical, chemical, mechanical, thermal, and electrical metrics, alongside performance and reliability testing.
2. Process Design Methodology: Application of a systematic execution workflow: Problem Identification          Requirement Analysis        Concept Generation       Prototype Development        Testing & Validation           Implementation
3. Smart Technologies & Industry 4.0: Integration of CAD/CAM tools for digital modelling, simulation software to test stress, and AI, ML, and IoT implementations for automated smart manufacturing.
4. Quality, Innovation & IPR: Emphasis on continuous quality assurance, process control, user-centered design thinking, entrepreneurship, and the critical importance of filing patents (IPR).

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session and a vote of thanks. It successfully provided students and faculty with a practical roadmap to bridge pharmaceutical science with modern engineering innovation, design thinking, and intellectual property protection.
