The vibrant festival of Makara Sankranti, celebrated with joy and enthusiasm across India, marks the transition of the Sun into Capricorn and signifies the arrival of longer days. To add to the festivities, a Rangoli competition was organized, embracing the spirit of creativity, culture, and tradition.
Rangoli, a traditional Indian art form, involves creating intricate and colourful designs on the ground using various materials like coloured powders, rice, flower petals, and grains. This form of artistic expression is often used to decorate homes and public spaces during festivals, welcoming prosperity and good fortune.
On the occasion of Makara Sankranti, the Rangoli competition served as a platform for participants of all ages to showcase their artistic skills, while celebrating the essence of the festival. The theme of the competition revolved around the vibrant colours of Sankranti — kites, harvest, sun, and the auspicious symbols associated with the festival.
Participants are invited to create stunning Rangoli designs that reflect the joy and significance of Makara Sankranti. From traditional motifs such as the sun, birds, and flowers to abstract representations, the possibilities are endless. Whether you are a seasoned Rangoli artist or a beginner, this competition promises to be a fun-filled, engaging, and culturally enriching experience.
Rangoli Competition was organized by Aditya Bangalore Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research (ABIPER), Yelahanka, Bangalore on 13 January 2025 at ABIPER Premises. The event was judged by a panel of experts who evaluated the creativity, design, use of colours, and adherence to the Sankranti theme. Exciting prizes were given to winners, and all participants were acknowledged for their efforts in celebrating the festival through their artistic creations.
